It will be six months since the Concerned Citizens of Fond du Lac County have asked to be placed on the agenda of the Fond du Lac County Health Board to discuss health issues associated with industrial wind turbines. The next health board meeting is Tuesday, June 7, and again we are being denied.
Here is the political game being played out in Fond du Lac County. By not being placed on the agenda, the only chance we have to express our health issues is the “public comment” section in which we can only offer information to the “board.” There is no accountability from County Executive Al Buechel or County Health Director Kim Mueller to answer any of our questions.
At the Feb. 2 meeting Buechel stated that Mueller will not declare wind turbines in Fond du Lac County to be a “health hazard”. He also stated that the county will not request shutting down wind turbines because this would result in a lawsuit. The question was asked if WE Energies has stated that a lawsuit would be filed. Buechel would not answer that question. It was then stated that Buechel was addressing the board and not the citizens in the room.
By being rejected from the June 7 agenda, citizens of Fond du Lac County cannot bring in experts to speak on their behalf again. Suppressing experts to speak to the health board is ridiculous if you truly want to find out what is causing our health issues. With all the scientific studies and information brought to the previous two meetings, not one study has been openly discussed. Normally board members are given information and discussion on the subject follows. One can see the apprehension of the board members to speak at the meeting. It is clear this topic is not to be discussed openly as the following statement reveals.
The Concerned Citizens of FDL County asked County Board and Health Committee member Dennis Stenz to have us placed on the agenda for June 7th. The response from Chairperson Sherry Behnke states: “In talking with Kim, I thought we all agreed that this topic would not be an every agenda item. With no new information, there does not seem to be a need.”
First of all, we have never been on the agenda. Secondly, there has been no discussion on scientific studies, no experts allowed to speak and no answering of questions. Wow, talk about control and suppression. Is this how we represent the citizens of our county?
Meanwhile, for eight long years, the citizens of Fond du Lac County have been living with headaches, earaches, vertigo, sleep deprivation and other health issues due to the operation of the industrial wind turbines that are too close to our homes. The reason for a health board is to protect our health. If six people were to become ill from a restaurant in the county, Kim Mueller would be all over it. Isn’t our health worthy of the same research and discussion?
The Fond du Lac County annual report states: “The Fond du Lac County Health Department guards multiple fronts to defend you and your community from any health threat, regardless of the source and works to prevent disease outbreaks.” Note that it reads: Regardless of the source.
