Alexander takes strong stance against wind farm Orchard Wind

By JAY MCCARTHY, For The Vista | May 25th, 2016 | vistanewspaper.com

“THESE ARE NOT YOUR GRANDMA’S WINDMILLS!”

Those were the words from our Tennessee Senator Lamar Alexander last week from the halls of congress. Those words have been echoing though the Cumberland Mountains and Town Hall since.

On May 18th, we saw our State Senator tell our Cumberland County Politicians and residents to “Say No” to the Wind Farm project planned for Crab Orchard and save our Cumberland County Mountains.

We have finally gotten our message outside of Cumberland County despite the silence of many outlets who have seemingly denied a voice to educate our residents about the possible dangers that we face as a result of the planned Industrial Wind Farm in Crab Orchard.

Yet, “The Vista – Fairfield Glade’s Community Newspaper” continues to lead the way to allow we residents a voice.

Why, even ABC Knoxville has ran this story that might soon be national news.

About our mountains, Senator Lamar Alexander eloquently said on the Floor, “John Muir, one of our greatest naturalists of his time, said: “The scenery is far grander then any I have ever beheld.”

If that statement doesn’t say it all nothing does! If you haven’t watched Senator Alexander speech yet please go to: https://youtu.be/xQ0p2QFcDE4.

The Cumberland Mountain Preservation Coalition has read the reply by Apex and isn’t at all surprised.

Their answers to each of the questions we ask, is the same ole, same ole. Not sure exactly where they are going to be located, not sure exactly how high, not sure exactly how many … and the drum beats on.

Meanwhile, CMPC pushes on with our petition drive, which is approaching 1,500 signatures in only a little over 3 weeks.

If you haven’t signed up yet please go Food City or Village Green where you can get information and sign our petition to save our Cumberland County Mountains and “say No” to the Industrial Wind Farm project.

Recent news from Brown County, Wisconsin was received from a medical doctor of 35 years.

He explained that he dealt with patients who experienced problems with infra sound first hand.

He told us that he had patients that experienced problems as far away as 4.2 miles from the Turbines. He explained because of the number of patients that experienced various healthproblems from the Wind Turbines that Brown County Board of Health declared the Wind Turbines a health hazard because of problems that many of his patients experienced from infra sound.

This doctor also explained that the Wind Turbines that are going to be installed at Crab Orchard are much larger then the ones currently at Brown County therefore the output of each turbine will increase substantially.

His opinion is that the range that people could be affected by infra sound could increase dramatically because the larger the Turbine the more intfa sound that is generated. He offered to talk to any health officials that cared to discuss this with him.

As Senator Alexander said: “These are not your Grandmothers Windmills ! “

“SAY NO!” To putting an Industrial Wind Farm in Crab Orchard and save our Cumberland Mountains.

Remember this, whether you agree or disagree, our community and the Cumberland Mountains will never be the same again if this project is built.
