People in Bury are being urged to join a protest against the expansion of Scout Moor wind farm.
An organised walk will stage a protest against the expansion and walkers are asked to meet at Waterfoot in Rossendale, at the bottom of Cowpe Road, at 10.30am for the trek across the Pennines bridleway to Waugh’s Well on May 29.
The walk will be a four mile-round trip and horse riders and cyclists are invited to join.
Rossendale council’s development control committee voted in favour to approve plans to expand the wind farm from 26 to 42 turbines, back in September, despite fierce opposition from campaigners.
The application has now been passed to the Department for Communities and Local Government.
The government now has the final decision on the plans to add 16 further turbines to the site, which is on open moorland and overlooks Bury.
