About three-dozen opponents of a wind energy project proposed for Logan and Hardin counties turned out Tuesday to plead with the Logan County Commission to reject a tax abatement for wind developer EverPower.
Tuesday’s community forum at the Holland Theatre lasted nearly three hours as speaker after speaker took to the microphone to make a case against a payment in lieu of taxes request by EverPower, and against wind energy more broadly.
Logan County Commissioners Tony Core, Dustin Wickersham and John Bayliss have until June 21 to determine whether the county would accept a flat payment of between $324,000 to $486,000 annually instead of insisting EverPower pay utility rates under existing rules.
