Residents have expressed surprise at a huge new wind turbine which they say ‘popped out of nowhere’.
Mark Lightfoot from Clapham was astonished when work began on the structure near Twinwood Road last month and said: “Lots of people are very upset about it.
“It’s like an alien invasion. We’ve had constant downgrading of the area. This is the last straw.”
Bedford Borough councillor for Clapham Jane Walker said several concerned residents had been in contact with questions about the turbine but she believes ‘people have simply forgotten as the application was submitted so long ago’.
A spokeswoman for the developer Bedfordia said: “Consultation with the planning authority in relation to the wind turbine commenced in September 2014 including agreement of pre-application community consultation. This was implemented in full.”
