Allegany commission moves to nix wind farm

CUMBERLAND – Allegany County commissioners have filed a motion with the Maryland Public Service Commission to dismiss a Dan’s Mountain Wind Force request for a required certificate for a 17-turbine wind farm project on Dan’s Mountain. Dan’s Mountain has filed for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity for the project. Niagara air base supporters fret over impact of wind turbine project on its future

LOCKPORT – A retired Air Force colonel now working on behalf of Apex Clean Energy has tried to convince supporters of the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station that the company’s planned wind turbine development won’t interfere with air base operations. Windfarm sought again for Spink X

A company that withdrew an application for a windfarm near Spink in 2013, has reapplied for shorter turbines, but for more of them. Galetech Energy, an agent for Pinewoods Wind Limited, is now applying to Laois County Council for permission to erect 11 wind turbines, 136.5 metres tall on land south of Ballinakill, bordering with Kilkenny. Fettercairn consultation event for major Glendye windfarm plan

Developers of a major windfarm project which could add almost 40 turbines reaching up to 150 metres into the Aberdeenshire/Angus skyline are to take their plans to the public. Oral hearings for wind farm appeals

An Bord Pleanála (ABP) will hold oral hearings next week into appeals for controversial plans to build 35 wind turbines in South Roscommon. The meetings begin on June 9th and will be held at the Sheraton Hotel, Athlone. Although scheduled for four days, the hearings could run for longer if required. Windmill fire burns near I-10

A windmilll caught fire while the evening’s Memorial Day traffic snaked its way through Interstate 10 on Friday. Witnesses reported seeing the fire just east of the Whitewater exit off I-10 just before 7 p.m. According to the California Highway Patrol’s website, a traffic hazard was reported in that area for multiple vehicles stopping to take pictures of the fire. CWLP shells out $100M-plus for wind power

For Springfield aldermen opposed to the 10-year-old Sierra Club deal that required the city to buy power from two wind farms, December 2018 can’t come fast enough. By then, both contracts will have expired, at which point City Water, Light and Power estimates it will have spent up to $150 million. So far, the utility has spent about $101 million. Ward 10 Ald. Protest against expansion of Scout Moor wind farm

Rochdale Ramblers were joined by members of other walking groups, bridleway associations, cyclists, horse riders, local residents, and lovers of the great outdoors on Sunday (29 May) to show their opposition to the plans by Peel Energy to expand the Scout Moor wind farm. Auldgirth turbines turned down

Councillors rejected plans for a five turbine windfarm near Auldgirth this week. The Blackwood windfarm scheme was turned down at Tuesday’s meeting of the planning application committee in Dumfries. A total of 88 formal objections to the project were received. And a lengthy presentation on the proposal was shown to councillors before objector Guy Willoughbly, of Thornhill, took the floor.
