Have your say on Sapphire Wind Farm

The Inverell Times | March 11, 2016 | www.inverelltimes.com.au

The local community is invited to have a say on a proposal by CWP Renewables to make modifications to the Sapphire Wind Farm Project.

The proposal on changes to the project east of Inverell were put on exhibition Tuesday, March 8 at Inverell Shire Council chambers to gather feedback.

The NSW Department of Planning and Environment is keen to hear the community’s views on the proposal which seeks to reduce the maximum number of wind turbines from 159 to 109 and increase the maximum tip height of the blades from 157 metres to 200 metres.

A spokesperson for the department said the local community always has an opportunity to share their views.

“Community consultation is an integral part of the planning process and the applicant will have to respond to the feedback we receive,” the spokesperson said.

“This feedback is taken into consideration when we develop our recommendations.

“It’s easy to participate by going online and we encourage everyone to take a look and have their say.”

To make a submission or view the application, visit www.majorprojects.planning.nsw.gov.au.

Submissions can be made until Tuesday, March 29.
