Ohio doesn’t need more wind turbines

Letter: Ohio doesn’t need more wind turbines | The Lima News | March 5th, 2016 | limaohio.com

In response to the gentleman who resides among Northwest Ohio turbines and wants more, I ask, do you care about Ohio’s future? According to the US Energy Information Administration, the 10 states in which wind power accounts for the highest percentage of their electricity generation, also experienced the highest electricity rate increases. How much? 20% increases. Each wind site in Ohio has cost the American taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars and payments continue every time you see a turbine spinning. Just this month, MIT released a study that confirms that green energy can only work when energy prices are extremely high and with continued governmental subsidies. I know of no one who thinks MIT researchers are stupid.

I don’t want to pay a higher electricity bill and I know their research is true, as it has happened all over the globe. Every taxpayer in Ohio should be irritated that your county is taking money from the rest of us to support your turbines. In regards to your lack of adverse health effects, I say be grateful. Individuals testified an entirely different story in previous Ohio hearings and the machines have been declared a health hazard in Wisconsin.
