On November 10, 2015 Lancaster County Commissioners, with the support of our County Health Department, set safe and appropriate noise levels to protect the people of Lancaster County (“County OKs more stringent wind rules; wind farm plan appears dead,” Nov. 10). We need to trust their decision and end the complaining of a few landowners and politicians, who are insisting on siting an unsafe Industrial wind operation in one of the most populated counties in the state!
In early January, Senator McCollister introduced LB 824. This priority bill allows companies to build wind turbines without a Power Purchase Agreement. The bill removes the requirement for new facilities to have a market for their electricity prior to construction. LB 824 removes the Nebraska Power Review Board from the approval process for private renewables, which strips the protections they provide and are critical to our citizens (“Wind energy bill compromise reached,” Jan. 27). It does not benefit the rate payers of Nebraska. This is not good for Nebraska!
Now John Hansen, President of Nebraska Farmers, has begun collecting signatures on a petition for Lancaster County (“Coalition seeks loosened wind energy regulations,” Feb. 26). It’s time for Hansen to concentrate on counties in Nebraska where industrial wind facilities are welcomed and stop dwelling on Lancaster county.
Why are they so determined to force industrial wind turbines into every Nebraska county with no regard for the property rights of those who do not wish to live beneath them?
