Wind turbine informational meeting March 15

Palo Alto County Extension and Outreach and Clay County Extension and Outreach are hosting informational meetings regarding the wind turbine contracts several area landowners have been presented with recently.

The meetings will take place Tuesday, March 15, at two locations. The morning session will be at the VFW in Emmetsburg from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Call Palo Alto County Extension and Outreach to register 712-852-2865.

The afternoon session will be in Spencer at the Spencer School Administration building from 2 to 4 p.m. Call Clay County Extension and Outreach to register 712-262-2264.

Roger McEowen, Professor of Agricultural Law and Taxation at Washburn University Law and Tax Director, Midwest Region, Agri- business and Cooperatives, CliftonLarsonAllen West Des Moines, will speak to landowners regarding the legal issues associated with the wind energy contracts. Prof.

McEowen has analyzed wind energy contracts for over 20 years, and will provide guidance to attendees based on his experiences, specifically for the land-owners considering the contracts, and those interested in the developments.

Prof. McEowen will not be providing his legal opinion regarding the contracts, rather he will going through the contracts to help patrons better understand the document. Roger will also make sure landowners understand the legalities of what they are signing.
