Eastleigh turbine appeal is thrown out

North Devon Gazette | 02 March 2016 | www.northdevongazette.co.uk

An appeal to build a 67 metre high wind turbine near Bideford has been dismissed today (Wednesday).

Planning inspector Paul Griffiths said the turbine at Eastleigh Barton by Murex Energy Ltd would have a negative impact on the listed Tapely House building.

The original plans were rejected by North Devon Council in October 2014.

Penny Mills, from Devon’s Campaign to Protect Rural England, said: “This proposal for a large commercial wind turbine at this site had been in the pipeline for some time.

There had been strong opposition to it right from the start from local residents, so I know that they will be very relieved that this will not be going ahead.”
