Wind turbine comes down in Huron County during winter storm

WLEW, Feb 25, 2016, wxyz.com

(WXYZ) – The winter storm that hit most of southeast Michigan also hit the thumb-area so hard it knocked down a wind turbine in Huron County.

According to WLEW radio, the turbine came down on Thursday morning northwest of Elkton, which is about 100 miles north of Detroit.

The turbine is owned by Excelon-Continental and has been in service for more than seven years, according to WLEW.

Oliver Township Planning Commission Brian Dickens said the turbine is in the middle of the field and caused no damage or injury.

The company responded to the scene, WLEW said, and closed of access to the road to keep people away. The radio station has posted additional photos from the scene.
