Part of a wind turbine broke off in Huron County.

It happened shortly after 5 a.m. on Thursday at the turbine on Gagetown Road north of Richardson Road in Oliver Township. That’s between Elkton and Pigeon.

Larry Krohn, Oliver Township Supervisor tells TV5 that the turbine is probably 7 or eight years old, and is part of the Harvest 1 site.

Huron County Sheriff Kelly Hanson said that the impacted section of the wind park will be shut down until company officials can determine that the structural failure is isolated, and it is safe to return other turbines back into service.

No one was hurt. Onlookers are advised not to enter any of the property near the incident, because it is private property.
