Wilsden parish councillors are objecting to a proposed 36-metre-high wind turbine at Upper Swain Royd Farm in Wilsden Road.

Councillors made the decision after listening to a resident, Suhra Nazir, give her own detailed objections.

Ms Nazir said the turbine would be on greenbelt land, and she believed the turbine’s scale was not in keeping with the rural landscape of the area.

The council objected due to the turbine’s location in the greenbelt, its size in relation to its surroundings, and potential effects on local communities, such as nearness to houses, health issues and noise.

Councillors expressed surprise they had not been formally consulted on the application because previous applications for wind energy developments visible from the parish at a distance had been circulated to them.

They said the latest application, which falls within the neighbouring Sandy Lane parish area, would have significant impact on Wilsden if granted.
