Residents to voice turbine concerns

Residents of the “Holyland” area of northeastern Fond du Lac County are planning to voice concerns to the county’s Board of Health over wind turbines and how they might be affecting their health.
The Board of Health meeting is scheduled for next Tuesday, Feb. 2 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the City-County Government Center, 160 Macy St., Fond du Lac. The room in which the meeting will be held will be posted inside the center.

Elizabeth Ebertz of N9192 Pine Rd., St. Cloud said everyone is invited to attend the open hearing and that they especially would like to hear from people who believe they might be suffering from negative health effects because of the wind turbines they have been living under or near for more than the past decade.
Ebertz and her husband Leander are among those people who believe their health might be affected by the turbines, but they are not alone. Elizabeth said she knows of between 25 and 30 affidavits which have been signed by area residents talking about their health conditions which they think could be related to the turbines.
When the We Energies wind farm was first proposed in 2003 it was billed as the largest “wind farm” east of the Mississippi River with two 44-turbine farms totaling 88 turbines. At the time there were people who favored the development and those who opposed it, which remains true today. Some people who favored it or were neutral then, however, are coming forward now to question whether or not the turbines are affecting them negatively.
