MONTPELIER, Vt. – Vermonters voiced their opposition to wind turbine projects in Vermont at the Statehouse Wednesday.

Organizers say Vermont energy policies have damaged the state’s environment and communities.

Vermont Senator John Rodgers (D-Essex/Orleans) proposed ban on industrial wind in the state at a press conference.

According to Energize Vermont, there are 86 towns who have sought to control their energy futures by means of explicit municipal plans or opposed unwanted energy projects.

Representatives from Energize Vermont were joined by Sen. Rodgers, Vermont League of Cities and Towns Director of Public Policy and Advocacy Karen Horn (VLCT), Rutland Town Selectboard Member Don Chioffi, advocacy groups, and grassroots conservation and energy groups.
