PSB to consider Sheffield wind turbine complaint

SHEFFIELD, Vt. – Another complaint about wind turbine noise is going before state regulators.

The Public Service Board is taking up the case of Paul Brouha who lives within sight of Vermont Wind’s 16-turbine project. Brouha has opposed the project from the start, fighting at the Public Service Board level and in civil court. His lawyers argue that the wind farm– using their own measuring devices– exceeds required indoor sound levels on a regular basis.

“We don’t expect that the project is going to be dismantled. What we are asking is that the conditions under which the project is operated– that there is compliance,” said Denise Anderson, Brouha’s lawyer.

Brouha says the wind farm noise has affected his health causing vertigo, loss of balance and other problems.

So far, the PSB has rejected or not taken up most other noise complaint cases, including one in Georgia where state officials last month admitted there is evidence that noise affects close neighbors.
