Plans to build a 49-metre-high wind turbine at Bilsthorpe has been withdrawn, it was confirmed.
The 250kw turbine was earmarked for Little Allamoor Farm off Mansfield Road, and would be powerful enough to provide energy for 143 homes.
Bilsthorpe Parish Council had objected to the proposal, because of its visual impact and potential detriment to wildlife.
Rainworth Parish Council was also consulted, but were in support of the application.
A decision was set to be made by planners on Newark and Sherwood District Council on December 22, but was withdrawn.
