FAA: Proposed Swanton wind farm won’t hinder air traffic

By WCAX News | Dec 22, 2015 | www.wcax.com

A proposed wind farm in Swanton has cleared one obstacle. The Federal Aviation Administration says the 500-foot-high turbines will not hinder air traffic.

The Belisle family wants to put seven turbines along the ridgeline. The project has come under fire from neighbors, town residents passed a resolution against it and Green Mountain Power doesn’t want the energy. The FAA also raised objections last month that the turbines could interfere with planes flying in and out of the Highgate airport.

But in a final ruling issued this week, the FAA said the towers would not be a hazard to air navigation.
