This selectboard unanimously opposed to Swanton Wind

Saint Albans Messenger; December 15, 2015 | via swantonwindvt.org

Honorable Governor Shumlin: We are writing you this letter in regards to the proposed Rocky Ridge Wind project in the Town of Swanton. We, the Selectboard of Fairfield, after much time and consideration have taken a formal vote of opposition to the proposed wind project. After several public meetings throughout Fairfield and a joint Selectboard meeting with Swanton and St. Albans town, we feel at this time we cannot support this project. We strongly feel that this project would negatively affect the Town of Fairfield and its residents. We have heard from many of our constituents at these public meetings and they have been loud and clear with their concerns. There seems to be at this time more questions than answers as to the effect of those living closest to the wind farms. There are also some concerns to the property values of the homes and camps that are in the wake of these projects. We feel confident in taking this stance as a board after seeing the overwhelming vote against this project by the residents of Swanton. We hope that you will take our vote of opposition into consideration as this project moves forward through the permitting process.
