Wind farm stats just don’t add up

Belfast Telegraph | 14/12/2015 | www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk

The recent submission, by SSE, of an environmental consultation on Doraville wind farm contained some of the most flagrant spin since the Iraqi diplomat ‘Comical Ali’ told the world everything was fine while Baghdad burned around him.

The headline figure was that 53% supported the wind farm. Removing the spin, what this actually means is that 53% of people who visited SSE’s website and managed to navigate a hilariously biased survey showed some support for the scheme.

In the real world, I suspect the figures would be somewhat different. After all, building the largest wind farm in Northern Ireland in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty would seem counter-productive to most rational people.
