Appeal over rejected turbines between Lauder and Stow dismissed

BBC News | 8 December 2015 | www.bbc.co.uk

An appeal to overturn the rejection of plans for a wind farm in the hills between Lauder and Stow in the Borders has been dismissed.

Airvolution Energy wanted to site seven turbines at Muircleugh.

Scottish Borders Council decided that its impact on the Southern Upland Way, the Eildons and Thirlestane Castle would be unacceptable.

An appeal was submitted to the Scottish government but it has now been turned down.

A reporter concluded that the renewable energy benefits of the proposal did not outweigh the adverse impact on the landscape and recreation in the area.
