Ostrander Point hearing wraps up in January

Mon, Nov 30th | www.quintenews.com

Final submissions in the Environmental Review Tribunal hearing into the 9 turbine wind farm planned for Ostrander Point will be heard in the new year.

Witness testimony for developer Gilead Power wrapped up last week with Shawn Taylor who has experience in aquatic and terrestrial rehabilitation projects particularly in creating artificial nesting sites for Blanding’s Turtles.

VP of Gilead project development Mike Lord did not offer testimony as planned.

Now before January 15, the legal teams will be submitting written briefs and replies summoning up the case. Final oral submissions will be presented in Toronto on the 15th and then the ERT panel will deliberate and write their final submissions.

Meanwhile, the Prince Edward County Field Naturalists continue raising funds. On January 16 they will present Winter Wonderland Walk. This 3 km walk will proceed along Hilltop Rd from the corner of Dainard Rd. and up Brewers Rd to Long Dog winery. Long Dog has graciously agreed to provide mulled wine for the walkers and we will make sure there is also hot spiced cider. They will also provide rides back to your car parked at the side of Hilltop Rd. Participants are asked to register and get a few sponsors to help donate funds to the cause. It should be a fun afternoon and will raise some much needed money for the cause of keeping our South Shore Turbine free.
