Commission: energy plan will require ‘sacrifice’

To comply with state energy goals, Woodstock would need to contribute 41 acres of land to solar panels, according to a map made by Two Rivers Ottauquechee Regional Commission. Carolina Beach to consider opposing wind turbines impacting ocean views

Ohio businesses push for more local control of wind projects

Business officials in a handful of Northwest Ohio Counties are pushing for legislation that will give local governments more control over wind-farm development. Ohio House Bill 190 would give local governments flexibility to determine how far wind turbines must be set back from neighboring property lines. The Environmental Review Tribunal hearing into a 27 turbine wind farm approved in the County will take a break for the weekend and start up again on Monday. Canadian company buys West Virginia wind project for $200 million

A Fortune 500 Canadian energy company recently bought a long-delayed Grant County wind farm, paying $200 million for the project, which they hope will be up and running in a year. Enbridge, a Calgary, Alberta-based pipeline and energy company, announced Wednesday that it bought the New Creek Wind Project and plans to have the 49-turbine farm in operation in December 2016. Windfall for wind farm watchdog: PM’s part-time commissioner to nab $600,000

The Turnbull government’s controversial wind farm watchdog commissioner will earn more than $600,000 in the three-year, part-time role. Environment Minister Greg Hunt named Andrew Dyer as National Wind Farm Commissioner last month but Fairfax Media has now obtained details of his contract. Luzerne County Court denies appeal for wind farm

An appeal filed by a firm hoping to erect wind turbines in the area was denied recently by Luzerne County Court. EDF Renewable Energy filed the appeal after the Foster Township Zoning Hearing Board rejected its application for a special exception to erect up to 25 windmills in parts of Upper Lehigh, Sandy Valley and Eckley. Lighthouse Wind submits scoping document for turbine project in Yates, Somerset

YATES – Apex Clean Energy has filed a preliminary scoping document with the NYS Public Service Commission for a wind turbine project along 12 miles of Lake Ontario shoreline in Yates and Somerset. The project would extend inland by 3 to 4 miles, the company said, in a community with residential, agricultural, lakefront, and seasonal recreational land.
