Time running out for West Norfolk wind farm appeal comments

Residents who live near the site of a proposed multi-million pound wind farm have just a few days left to submit comments ahead of a public inquiry into the scheme.

Plans for nine wind turbines to be built on the Ongar Hill, between Terrington St Clement and Clenchwarton, were rejected by West Norfolk Council in February this year.

They argued that the development would have an unacceptable impact on the surrounding landscape and the energy generated by them did not outweigh the damage.

But planning officers had recommended that the plan be approved ahead of that meeting.

And the developers, Coriolis Energy, signalled their intention to appeal against the committee’s decision in August.

Nearby residents have now been notified that the company’s appeal has been accepted by the Department for Communities and Local Government.

That means the fate of the proposal will now be decided through a public inquiry, which will be led by a government planning inspector.

Although a date for the hearing has yet to be set, officials say that members of the public who wish to comment on the proposal have until Tuesday, November 17, to do so, in order to ensure that their views are taken into consideration during the inquiry.
