350 people sign petition against 34m wind turbine

A petition against a controversial wind turbine above Bow Street has gained more than 350 signatures, despite claims the council did not inform residents about the planning application.

The proposed development is for the erection of one 34.2m-to-tip wind turbine at Ruel Uchaf, Bow Street, which will sit within 500m of several properties and be clearly visible on the skyline from the villages of Bow Street and Llandre.

A number of residents in the area have voiced their objections at the proximity of the proposed turbine to their properties, and residents of Bow Street are angry they were not consulted by the council about the planning application.

Mr Watkin, who is one of those to live in the immediate locale of the turbine being planned by Gwyn Howells, said: “I am mainly concerned about the scenery and the wildlife – there are wetlands here, barn owls and a red kite nest within 400m of the turbine.

The council said it notified residents within 1km of the planned turbine and said an advert was published in the Cambrian News on 17 September, informing the public about the application and that a site notice was put up on 3 September.
