Police: Wind farm project causing Narragansett Bay noise

By Darren Soens | Published October 1, 2015 | wpri.com

The ongoing construction of the nation’s first offshore wind farm is apparently responsible for an unusual noise coming off Narragansett Bay.

North Kingstown Police reached out to Eyewitness News Thursday to help spread the word about the origin of the noise, which they say comes from the generators on large ocean platforms temporarily anchored off Jamestown.

The noise typically occurs during the early evening and early morning hours.

North Kingstown Police say they have been receiving numerous calls from citizens concerning the noise.
