In Aegean province of Çanakkale, environmentalists held a protest against the wind power plant to be installed right in the center of wild life in northern slopes of the Mount Ida.
Protesters marched towards the anemometer that has been erected withing the project recently between the Tayvan Oyna and Dalak Suyu regions on 1500 meters altitude, by a private company.
The project was defined as a “massacre of trees” by around 120 nature lovers, who have arrived by buses to Mound Ida for the event.
While led by the Çanakkale Environment Platform, the group accompanied by Republican People’s Party (CHP) Provincial Assembly Group Deputy Chairman urged the construction would damage this green area where the most virgin forests and a variety of plant species fall into.
Protesters announced they would call on all the environmentalists to the region for a larger event, if the company would insist to resume the project.
Villagers offered boxes of apples to the nature lovers, while climbing down the mountain.
