Plans to build wind turbines on Doncaster green belt land put on hold

South Yorkshire Times | 26 August 2015 | www.southyorkshiretimes.co.uk

Controversial plans to build wind turbines in a Doncaster village have been put on hold, as the council’s planning committee considers the proposal further.

Despite a recommendation from report author Mark Ramsay to approve plans to build the two turbines on green belt land in Greengate Road, Norton, councillors have agreed to halt the decision in order to give the committee time to view the site of the proposed application.

The move follows a number of objections to the application from residents, many of whom are part of the community action group NoNow, which was set up in response to the plans.

Opposition to building on green belt land as well as noise pollution are among the concerns raised by residents in Norton.
