SEARSBURG, Vt. – Green Mountain Power is looking into the cause of a turbine fire at its Searsburg wind farm early Sunday morning.
Company officials say the turbine went up in flames around 2 a.m. and went out a few hours later. The Wilmington Fire Department responded and monitored the blaze, but took no action. The 10 other turbines are being monitored before being started up again.
The officials say turbine fires are rare but not unheard of. They say at no time was anyone at any risk.
