Turbine at ‘haunted’ castle in Angus has not a ghost of a chance

A wind turbine application on the doorstep of a supposedly haunted 14th Century Angus castle has finally been refused.

The turbine saga at Ethie Barns near Arbroath was one of the longest in Angus planning history after initially being submitted more than two years ago.

The 46-metre turbine would have been positioned to the north-west of the boundary walls of the red sandstone Ethie Castle, which is Scotland’s second oldest permanently inhabited residence.

Planners refused the application after concerns were raised that the turbine would have a negative effect on the castle and visitors would stop coming to the area.
