Kenston School District’s wind turbine at Kenston High School was struck by lightning June 23 at about 6 a.m. The turbine’s revenue meter and transformer were shut down with the strike. A member of the school district’s maintenance department was present when the lightning struck the turbine, according to reports.
The lightning apparently overrode the lightning rod system, Kenston Board of Education member James Jimison said.
