A developer has dropped its campaign for a Hampshire windfarm.
EDF Energy Renewables this afternoon announced it is withdrawing its appeal against the decision of three councils, Winchester, Test Valley and Basingstoke, to refuse permission for a proposed wind farm near Bullington Cross.
EDF said that after reviewing the scheme in the light of recent government announcements on onshore wind, the company has told the Planning Inspectorate that it will not be proceeding with the appeal hearing scheduled for later this year.
The Bullington Cross wind farm proposal involved the development of a 14 turbine, 28 MW wind farm on agricultural land to the north of the A303.
In June 2014 the planning committees of Winchester, Test Valley and Basingstoke and Deane councils turned down the application.
The company announced its intention to appeal against the decision in December 2014.
