A controversial debate in the town of Catlin has been settled. The town board passed a local law on Wind Farms Thursday night.
The law was passed unanimously. The town voted in three resolutions to enact the law. First resolution being the law itself. The second deals with zoning laws when building a wind turbine. The third resolution is related to the process with the Department of Environmental Conservation.
The law itself does not prohibit wind farms but makes it much more difficult for them to be built. The local law was in response to a proposal by Florida-based Next Era Energy Resources to build a wind farm in the town.
