Regarding “A nation unites to save bald eagles” (Page E1, Saturday), God bless Gary Clark for his efforts to preserve the American Bald Eagle. One wonders how his efforts square with the Obama administration’s granting 30-year permits to wind farms absolving them from liability for the bird deaths due to gigantic wind mills.
An estimated 440,000 birds of all kinds are killed each year by the wind farms. A significant percentage of those killed are American Eagles. The number and size of these wind farms are projected to grow significantly over the next 30 years. Perhaps, professor Clark should direct his efforts toward the Department of the Interior for allowing the wholesale killing of these magnificent birds.
