As to the complaints about the wind turbines over the years, at first I wasn’t too interested in the situation—until today. Now I have something to say.
I have been visiting my husband’s grave at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne most days and I noticed a huge wind turbine at the flagpole as one enters the main gates of the cemetery. It is right in front of you as you come to the stop sign. At first I didn’t see the blades turning and drove past. However, today, it was very windy out there and the blades were turning quite fast.
I had something to take care of and pulled into the cemetery parking lot just inside the main gates on the left. I was curious.
This is where I decided to get out of my car and listen. It did not take more than one minute for me to hear the whirring of the blades and most of all, the low frequency noises coming from the hub of the turbine as well as a hum.
I could not imagine living with the noise next to my home, let alone anywhere within the radius of one of those monsters. I sympathize fully with all of the people who have a legitimate complaint with whoever owns the turbines.
The town selectmen and women who think there is not a problem should go out and stand in the cemetery parking lot on a light windy day and listen. This goes for all of the people who think this is not a serious health problem; it is.
It is a good idea to save money on electricity consumption but having one of these turbines close to where people live is not saving money as medical bills far outweigh the savings. They don’t just have one turbine; they have two.
I will think very hard next time I have to vote in the elections as I do not wish to add to the health issues these homeowners are experiencing.
Until today I kept my opinions to myself. It is time people, go out and L-I-S-T-E-N.
