Campaigners’ action against plans for eight 115m wind turbines on Lincs coast near holiday camp

Grimsby Telegraph | May 09, 2015 | www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk

Scores of anti-wind turbine campaigners gathered at Tetney village hall to protest at a decision to give eight more wind turbines the go-ahead.

The Marsh Windfarm Action Group will make a formal complaint to The Planning Inspectorate against the decision to erect the 115-metre turbines at Bishopthorpe Farm, Tetney.

They said it will have a disastrous impact on the coastal landscape and put off tourists visiting the nearby Thorp Park holiday centre at Humberston.

A protest walk will take place from Humberston Yacht Club from 11am tomorrow (sunday).

An hot air balloon blimp will be floated to give visitors the chance to see the height of the proposed new turbines planned by ASC Renewables.

The firm has agreed to donate £2.5 million to the local community over the lifetime of the turbines and said the energy created will save hundreds of tonnes of carbon emissions.

Keep checking for updates.
