Iberdrola seeks Oregon wind delay

reNEWS | 17/04/2015 | renews.biz

Iberdrola Renewables is seeking permission to delay construction of the 404MW Montague wind project in Oregon by two years.

The Spanish developer has applied for a site certificate extension for the Gilliam County scheme.

Iberdrola proposes to change the deadline to begin construction from September 2015 to September 2017 and extend the construction completion date to September 2020.

The developer said in a regulatory filing it needs more to time to “implement necessary business arrangements” and meet the site certificate conditions.

If approved, it would be the second amendment for the Montague scheme. Regulators granted the original certificate in 2010 and extended the construction deadlines in 2013.

Comments on the extension request may be submitted to the Oregon Department of Energy by 22 April.

Iberdrola proposes to erect up to 269 turbines on the 33,000-acre site, located south of the city of Arlington.
