Submitted by Cody Sexton, Botetourt County April 13, 2015 | www.roanoke.com

The Botetourt County Department of Community Development will be hosting a public forum on a proposed utility-scale wind energy ordinance on Tuesday, April 21, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Greenfield Education and Training Center in Daleville.

At the forum, information about the proposed regulations will be presented. Interested persons may stop by any time between those hours to learn about the proposed text amendments and ask questions of county officials. There will also be an opportunity to give written comments at or following the meeting.

At special joint meetings in February and April, the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors and the Botetourt County Planning Commission received background information and discussed proposed provisions of a utility-scale wind energy ordinance.

At the February meeting, the board and commission members asked staff to hold a public forum to receive additional comments from citizens and other interested persons.

The desire of the board and the commission is to use the comments generated from the public forum to inform the final proposed ordinance, which will be formally presented at a public hearing later this spring.
