The Mayor of Elm Springs is hosting a town hall meeting Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. to allow people to talk about any problems they may have with a new wind farm being built near their town.

The CEO of Dragonfly wind turbines will be there to also share more information about the farm.

A group called Stop Elm Springs Wind Farm said on their Facebook page they are worried that the sound from the wind farm may be hazardous to their health.
Dozens of homes are right next to where the farm would be built.

The Mayor said the company that wants to bring the wind farm to Elm Springs wants to explain to people why the wind farm won’t be dangerous.

He said it’s different than a traditional wind turbine.
It looks more like small engine jets, versus a giant wheel.
It uses air to generate electricity and can sound like hairdryers.

The company has to meet all the state health, clean water, and project planning requirements before they can build the wind farm.

The mayor said the property and sales tax made from the farm could help the city’s budget. The new wind farm could also mean more jobs for residents to apply and choose from.

The city council will have to vote to make the land where the wind farm will sit… apart of Elm Springs. Currently it’s still in the Washington County limits.
