Knockback for Kilsyth turbine

Cumbernauld News | Friday 27 March 2015 | www.cumbernauld-news.co.uk

A plan to create a 77 metre turbine in the centre of a 17th century Kilsyth battlefield has been rejected on appeal.

The open field was reckoned by the Reporter to be an inappropriate site for a wind turbine, given the way it would dominate the surrounding landscape.

The turbine would also have been in the centre of the area covered by the 1645 Battle of Kilsyth, when Royalist troops commanded by James Graham, Marquis of Montrose, destroyed a Covenanter army.
