Developer drops court action against decision to refuse Hempnall wind farm plan

A legal challenge against a decision to throw out a bid to build a wind farm in Hempnall has been dropped.

TCI Renewables, the developer, was set to challenge Secretary of State Eric Pickles’ decision in October to reject the planning application for three 126-metre high turbines because of the visual harm.

But today TCI Renewables confirmed it was no longer pursuing a judicial review at the High Court.

Geoff Moulton, who is chairman of Hempnall Parish Council and the campaign group Stop Hempnall’s Onshore Wind Turbines (SHOWT) said he was not confident the matter was finished.

He said: “We have been fighting this for nine years and there have been several false dawns.” Mr Moulton added it was possible TCI would assess the political landscape for onshore wind after the May elections.
