Hague backs fight against pylons

William Hague was greeted to Montgomeryshire by hundreds of guests where he backed supporters against the Mid Wales Windfarm Connection.

Mr Hague who has recently moved to the £2.5 million Cyfronydd Hall, Welshpool, met with around 200 residents for an informal chat about his move to the area and past political experiences.

After his talk the Secretary of State was quizzed by residents over local issues including the proposed 33-mile pylon connection project from Cefn Coch to near Oswestry.

Mr Hague said he agreed with MP for Montgomershire Glyn Davies who has previously objected to the connection project.

He said: “Glyn Davies has strong views against this project and I agree with him and it is very important that should be decided by the local people.

“It’s clear that the United Kindom is now reaching its required level for on-shore windfarm developement. So if the Conservatives are to get in power at the general election we would make sure there is no new substadies for pylone projects.”
