Turbine plan refused over fears for birds

Skegness Standard | 31 January 2015 | www.skegnessstandard.co.uk

A plan for a 32-metre high wind turbine on land off Sea Lane in Friskney has been turned down.

The application submitted by farmer Paul Roughton did not go before East Lindsey District Council’s planning committee but was determined under delegated powers by a case officer.

Among the reasons given for the refusal is that the structure could pose a collision or disturbance risk to birds that feed on the neighbouring saltmarsh which is a site of special scientific interest. In addition, it is thought that the turbine would have an obtrusive impact on the flat landscape of this part of the coast.
