Wind farms don’t pay off

Pantagraph | January 9, 2015 | www.pantagraph.com

We took a drive recently from McLean County to Vermilion County on Illinois 9 and passed by three huge wind farms along the way. The most productive land in the world is being converted to industrial wind complexes, destroying the beautiful countryside, drying out the soil (according to wind company experts) and compacting soil for years to come.

What is really going on here? These giant industrial wind complexes are draining our federal treasury. In 2009, our Congress passed a $900 billion stimulus package and 30 to 50 percent of that money went to alternative energy. For environmentalists who think this is a good deal, the dirty little secret is that for all that money, wind energy actually only produces a minimal 1 to 4 percent of our nation’s energy.

So, what is the taxpayer getting for this huge waste of tax money? Nothing. The money goes into the pockets of investors and wind companies. Let’s urge Congress to stop the wind production tax credit that funds this business.

This is probably the biggest scam that has ever been perpetrated on the American people.
