KOLHAPUR: At least three construction workers were killed and four injured in an explosion that took place in Maharashtra’s Satara district on Friday.

Abhinav Deshmukh, superintendent of police, Satara district said, “It appears to be a case of negligence by the company, as the gelatin sticks were stored at a temporary shed in Bothe village of Mann tehsil in Satara district. The intensity of the blast was so high that it created a five-feet ditch at the site, while the tin sheds were completely damaged.”

Deshmukh said that the blast took place at around 11am, when some eight men were at the site.

The security guards assembled the left out and tried to burn it down. They could not control the flame and it spread to the adjacent temporary shed, where the explosive sticks were stored. The situation went out of control.
