In regard to the recent article “Bourne Residents Speak Out Against Plymouth Turbines,” it is my opinion that this four-turbine, 8 megawatt industrial power plant, Future Generation Wind, sited for a cranberry bog in Plymouth will be too big and too close to the nearby Plymouth, Bourne and possibly Wareham neighbors.
I applaud and agree with John T. McMahon of Morning Mist who said at the Bourne BOH meeting on December 10,“ ‘Haven’t we learned anything from the Town of Falmouth?’” Towns and town residents should not have to ponder whether certain areas can remain, for them, livable, viable residential areas if indeed they are not compatible and cannot coexist with a large industrial project proposed for their area.
In defense of the common citizen/resident, it should be the other way around as their health and well being is a public priority as is demonstrated in the groundbreaking Bourne BOH Wind Energy Conversion Regulations which address among other issues noise, shadow flicker and amplitude modulation. Don’t those citizens constitute the very backbone of our society?
I applaud the Bourne BOH for taking up the issue as to whether the project can conform to these regulations. The map shows streets within a one-mile radius of the project.
