Congressman Bill Shuster (R-Hollidaysburg) released the following statement in regards to his No vote for H.R. 5771:
“I could not support this wind subsidy tax package and the billions of taxpayer dollars it would continue to waste in an effort to prop up the failing wind industry. This policy was allowed to expire because American taxpayers are fed up with Obama Administration’s climate change plans. Today I stand with Pennsylvania taxpayers who are tired of handing over their hard earned money in the form of corporate welfare to the wind industry.
“Americans have asked for serious reforms to our arcane tax code, and that is a shared goal I am committed to seeing through. But a $9 billion government-subsidized handout to the wind industry is not the way to accomplish these long overdue goals, which I why I voted “No” for H.R. 5771.”
