Two Clydesdale windfarms refused permission by SLC

Two companies were refused planning permission by South Lanarkshire Council to construct new turbines in the Clydesdale countryside.

Muirhall Energy Ltd and Banks Renewables wanted to erect a total of eight turbines on two separate sites but councillors at the council’s planning committee kicked their plans into touch.

Muirhall Energy applied to build three turbines, measuring 147 metres, on land at Stallashaw Moss, around three kilometres outside Auchengray, next to the currently operating Muirhall Windfarm and Muirhall Windfarm extension.

The plans received 104 letters of objection from nearby residents with 39 letters of support.

Meanwhile, Banks Renewables’ plan to construct five 132 metre turbines on land at Crofthill in Auchengray was also booted out by the planning committee.

The company’s plans received 41 objections with 94 letters of support.

However, the proposals were objected to by the National Air Traffic Services Ltd (NATS) as the development conflicted with its safeguarding criteria.
