Symposium set on renewable energy topics

JOSHUA TREE – A panel of speakers will discuss “Renewable Energy Development” and include the topic of the Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan in a Black Rock Lecture Series symposium. Seating is limited and pre-registration is required to attend the event co-sponsored by Desert Institute/Joshua Tree National Park Association and Copper Mountain College

Panelists will include Chris Clarke, KCET environmental writer; James Andre, director of the Granite Mountains Desert Research Center, and April Sall, director of the California Desert Coalition. The moderator will be Frazier Haney, conservation director of the Mojave Desert Land Trust.

Some of the topics: the Eagle Mountain Storage project; industrial solar power – an overview of technology types, locations and current proposals; wind-power proposals within neighborhoods, and community-solar initiatives.

This event is scheduled from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 21 in the Community Room of the Bell Center at Copper Mountain College, 6162 Rotary Way in Joshua Tree.
